Cudillero, Spain
Cudillero is a small fishing village with colorful houses facing the Cantabrian Sea. It is one of the most famous villages in Asturias and you understand why: you are immediately charmed by these brightly colored houses that stand side-by-side on the slopes of the mountains and the few fishing nets that dry near the port. In addition, its semicircular shape makes the landscape unique!
The Mirador de la Garita offers one of the most beautiful panoramas of Cudillero, its port and its lighthouse. You can also climb the few steps of the dizzying concrete tower staircase on site to access the 180° view of the surroundings.
From the Mirador de la Garita, we descended through the various streets of the village to the Plaza del Puerto Viejo, passing by the Mirador de Cimadevilla. The inhabitants' laundry dried in front of the houses on this sunny September day, and the young people were returning home from their school day.
In the middle of this horseshoe-shaped basin that is Cudillero, the church of San Pedro blends discreetly in. It dates from the 16th century and its first construction was financed solely by the inhabitants of Cudillero.
Like any good tourist town, the Cudillero letters are found on the waterfront facing the village. The perfect spot for a souvenir photo in front of this unique view!
There is a large car park on the port esplanade. It will only take a few minutes on foot to reach the village center by following the port quay.
Ps: don't make the same mistake as us by parking in the police station's reserved spaces 😇
