Chaumont-Gistoux, Belgium
We were fortunate enough to spend a night in the tiny house 'La Ruche' in the small village of Vieusart in Chaumont-Gistoux. This unusual accommodation is nestled in the heart of Wallonian nature, ideal for a romantic getaway and only 20 minutes from Brussels. Who said you had to go far to recharge?
```Unfortunately, the tiny house 'La Ruche' has closed its doors and no longer offers rentals. Here is a list of accommodations in Belgium, including other tiny houses to discover:
```At the heart of the 'La Ruche' tiny house project, are 3 friends who love travel, nature, and adventure. After a trip to the Slovenian mountains, they wanted to create a tiny house and allow everyone to live an unusual experience in the heart of nature.

```After taking a gravel path in the woods with the car, we see the tiny house in the distance. We walk the last few meters that separate us from 'La Ruche' on foot, taking the path drawn by the lights. We discover in passing the two beehives that gave their name to this unusual accommodation.
In wet weather, we advise you to bring good shoes, the meadow is very wet and can be muddy.
We collect the keys in the box (thanks to the instructions previously sent by email) and we discover the warm and modern interior of the tiny house. The warmth of the wood stove welcomes us as soon as we arrive and we take off our shoes before discovering the layout of this unusual place.
```

To our right, is the bathroom area with a walk-in shower, a small sink, and a dry toilet. To accompany us during our stay, we find a soap & shampoo duo from Be Tree for a more ecological approach. These are zero waste, vegan and made from 100% natural ingredients.
```
Facing the entrance, we find a large kitchen area with 4 gas cooktops, a sink, a refrigerator (which even contains a mini freezer) and everything you need to cook. Extending from it, we discover a high table facing two windows that overlook the outdoor space.
```

At the end of the tiny house is the living area or small lounge. We find a sofa (which can be converted into a bed to accommodate a 3rd person), a coffee table and a pretty shelf which contains a bluetooth speaker, travel books and practical guides to explore the surroundings, board games and a few jars of honey made with the honey produced by the hives on the land.
In the middle of the tiny house, stands the ladder that allows us to access the mezzanine bedroom. It consists of a large double mattress and a pretty window that offers a panorama of the surrounding countryside.
```
The space is so well arranged inside that you don't realize you're actually in a mini house, even for Romain's one meter ninety. And the many windows on the outside allow us to always be immersed in the surrounding nature, no matter where we are in the tiny house.
```The outside of the accommodation is also designed to enjoy nature as much as possible on sunny days. A large terrace, a sun lounger area, a small vegetable garden, a swing in the tree and a magnificent fire pit area for BBQs and long evenings by the fire with your loved one, family or friends. A great opportunity to come back and discover 'La Ruche' in the summer!
```
Without WIFI and TV, 'La Ruche' really invites us to disconnect and enjoy the present moment. We start the evening with an aperitif accompanied by Bon Secours beers that were waiting for us chilled upon our arrival. We complete the moment by trying out several of the board games available on site (special mention for the nice selection of games for 2). We had so much fun with Exploding Kittens that we ordered it when we got back home 🙂
After a simple dinner, cooked in the tiny house, we go to bed and fall asleep with the gentle melody of the raindrops.
```

The next morning, we wake up gently and enjoy the full breakfast offered when booking. There is something for everyone (sweet & savory) and it consists of eggs, bread, jam, speculoos spread, yogurt, apple juice, etc. It can be accompanied by coffee, tea or herbal tea which are available in the tiny house.
```
We are enjoying this parenthesis out of time until the last minute, a big advantage of a late check-out at 11:30 am, before we plunge back into the flow of daily life.
Thank you La Ruche for this unusual getaway, a stone's throw from our home! 🐝🌿
```The Tiny house 'La Ruche' is located in Vieusart in Walloon Brabant, a few minutes by car from exit 9 (Corroy-le-Grand) of the E411 and close to the city of Louvain-la-Neuve. It can be accessed by public transport by taking bus 33 towards Chaumont-Gistoux from Louvain-la-Neuve station.
Many hikes are to be discovered in the surroundings. There is also a guide dedicated to these in the library of the tiny house. Unfortunately for us, the weather was not on our side and we don't have one in particular to recommend to you.
