Walk to the Roche aux chevaux in the Ardennes

We begin our walk at the parking “Entre Lesse et Lomme” located along the Lesse in the village of Redu. This small parking can accommodate eight cars and also includes a picnic area where it's pleasant to spend time during the summer afternoons.

The walk, which is an 8.81km loop with 130m of elevation gain, is quite accessible and will let you discover a small part of this beautiful region, passing by a must-see viewpoint on the confluence of the Lesse and Our rivers: Roche aux Chevaux.

The beginning of the walk takes us onto the road before starting to climb and entering the forest towards the viewpoint of Roche aux Chevaux overlooking the Lesse.

We walk a few hundred meters into the forest before turning left to come across this rock majestically overlooking the valley.

After taking time to enjoy the view, we retrace our steps a little before getting back on the main path and continuing the walk in the forest.

The path gently descends, and soon we find ourselves on the banks of the Lesse. It is possible here to cross the Lesse over the Cochettes bridge and thus shorten the walk by joining the other bank directly.

We decide not to cross immediately and continue our walk on the same bank.

We walk a few more kilometers on this bank, surrounded by rich nature before taking a small staircase on our left that allows us to cross a small bridge that crosses the river.

We are now on the other side, often more humid than the first half of the walk, we advise you to wear good boots to do this hike.

We walk a few kilometers before slightly deviating from the river, crossing a bridge that spans the Our to continue following the Lesse.

Here the scenery changes for a few hundred meters before returning to the forest along the river. One last bridge to cross and we are back at the parking lot from where we started the hike.
