Havelange, Belgium
It is in Havelange, in the province of Namur that we give you an appointment for this new hike in Belgium. This 7-kilometer hike takes you through the varied landscapes of the Condroz-Famenne and will allow you to discover the hamlet of Ossogne located at the bottom of the valley.
We begin this bucolic hike at the Tilleuls Farm of Havelange, located right next to the village church. There is a small parking area with 4-5 spaces on the other side of the road. If this is full, there is a parking lot of about twenty spaces about a hundred meters away.
🅿️ Parking 1: Rue de Hiettine, 5370 Havelange. Parking location on Google Maps.
🅿️ Parking 2: Perpendicular to Rue de la Station. Parking location on Google Maps.
This walk is a 7km loop with 160m of elevation gain. It's accessible to any regular or beginner walker. The route is mostly paved, but remember to wear good shoes for the section in the Ossogne woods. The latter was slightly muddy during our autumn visit.
Taking young children on this walk? We recommend a baby carrier rather than a stroller.
The walk begins with crossing the village of Havelange. We quickly leave the main roads to discover an open panorama through the fields and pastures.
On the road leading to the woods, we discover the Sawhis. These 15 hectares of land were redesigned, after the 2010 storm, by maximizing biodiversity. This nature area is enhanced by a 2 km trail that includes a health trail and educational panels.
These 2 kilometers through the Sawhis are to be added to the initial 7 km of the walk.

We continue our hike taking the dirt path that runs alongside the Ossogne woods. Here, nature takes center stage, we observe the trees and their berries around us, all to the rhythm of the birdsong.
Gradually, we emerge from the woods and discover a magnificent view of the Ossogne hamlet rising in the middle of the valley.
In the center, the Sainte-Gertrude church and on the left the Château Farm frame the landscape.
Our hiking shoes return to the macadam and our eyes discover the few charming stone houses of the village of Ossogne. A suspended and calm moment with only the threatening clouds just above our heads.
We close the loop by crossing the Ossogne forest again and walking for 500 meters along the N983. We agree, this is definitely not the most enjoyable part of the loop. The rain starts to fall and we put away our cameras for the rest of this walk. Suspense over the landscapes of this final part of the hike, you'll have to see them with your own eyes! 👀
