Martelange, Belgium
Through this blog post, we take you on the trails of a hike that we enjoyed very much in the Belgian Ardennes. A nature walk we took during our stay at the Nutchel Cabins, in southern Belgium.
Starting from the village of Martelange, we completed this remarkable 4-kilometer hike that passes through the Passerelle des Oiseaux and the Anlier Forest.
The Bird's Footbridge is a magnificent 150-meter wooden suspension bridge in Martelange. This wooden structure spans the Sûre river, which originates about twenty kilometers away in Vaux-les-Rosières. Along the path, you'll find informative panels that tell you more about the local fauna. Don't forget to climb to the top of the nearby observation tower to admire the remarkable panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Exiting the observation tower, we turn right and leave the village of Martelange to delve into the Anlier Forest, recognized as a Belgian Nature Park. This part of the hike is an immersive experience in one of Belgium's largest forests, with only the resident birds for company. Sunlight streams through the pine branches, creating a scene straight out of a fairytale. It's with our batteries fully recharged by this immersive nature walk that we return to our starting point.

It was during our stay at the Nutchel Cabins that we discovered this beautiful region in the Belgian Ardennes. The Nutchels Cabins are a property bordering the Anlier Forest, comprised of about thirty cozy wooden cabins. We have detailed our unusual stay in the Luxembourg province in the article below.
We hope we've inspired you to lace up your hiking boots and take on this trail along the edge of the Anlier Forest in the Ardennes region of Belgium. If you know of other hikes to do in this Belgian region, don't hesitate to suggest them in the comments.
