Sautour, Belgium
Are you looking for a unique experience to recharge? Do you dream of a peaceful getaway far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life? We've found the perfect place for you! Imagine staying in a completely renovated former rectory in the heart of the Belgian Fagnes and relaxing in the property's outdoor spa and heated pool.
In this article, we share our romantic weekend at the Sautour Rectory, its facilities, and the hikes to be enjoyed in this beautiful region. You will also find all the necessary information to book your next romantic getaway.
The presbytery of Sautour is located in the center of the stone village of the Sautour region, near Philippeville in Wallonia. We spent two nights there to make the most of this relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of Brussels. The hotel consists of 9 rooms, a games room, its own restaurant, and a wellness area.
Each room has its own identity with unique wallpaper and a window overlooking nature. You'll also find a small desk with a designer shelf that can hold your weekend clothes. The bathroom consists of an Italian shower, a sink with a mirror, and a toilet. Simple, efficient, and modern equipment to spend a comfortable weekend at the hotel
The next morning, a plentiful breakfast awaited us in the common room. Prepared with care by the cook, we enjoyed fresh, local produce. The jams on the buffet were actually made by Christophe's mother, the owner of the establishment.
The outdoor spa at the Presbytère de Sautour is undoubtedly our favorite part of the hotel. In the main area, you'll find the heated pool (from x to x) and the sauna. At the back of the building is the beautiful jacuzzi, secluded from view! Needless to say, we took advantage of this romantic getaway to test all the facilities and relax as much as possible.
The extra bonus is that the facilities are also available by the day, even if you are not a hotel guest.
The Presbytère's table is a bistro with a friendly and warm atmosphere. During our weekend near Philippeville, we were able to try different dishes from the menu in a welcoming setting. If the weather permits, request a table on the terrace, it's magical with the old stone walls and the open pool.
The Presbytère de Sautour also features two gîtes for 6 people. Located on the old ramparts, they have recently been renovated, blending the old with the beautiful original stone walls and the new with contemporary décor. In addition to 3 bedrooms and a shower room, there is a fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful living/dining area. The garden, shared by the two gîtes, has a barbecue for enjoying your best summer evenings.
A true favourite for these establishments, where we hope to return to create memories with friends or family.
Sautour is a small country village, the ideal activity to make the most of this relaxing stay is to put on your hiking boots and explore the surroundings. There are several hiking trails departing from the establishment, for all levels.
We chose a 5-kilometer circular hike. The environment of the route changes as the kilometers go by. After leaving the village of Sautour, we cross several flower-filled meadows at this time of year before entering the wooded part of the hike. The route continues through fields before returning to the village.
An easy hike accessible to everyone (except strollers) where we saw no one on the trail.
In short, the Presbytère de Sautour charmed us for a romantic wellness weekend in Belgium. The establishment is located in an idyllic natural setting that encourages a slower pace. Once again, we were surprised by what Belgium can offer in terms of landscapes and establishments.
