Hike of the Wolfsputten to Dilbeek

31 October 2022

We discovered the Wolfsputten Reserve in Dilbeek, Flemish Brabant, less than 30 minutes from central Brussels. The perfect opportunity to get some fresh air on a sunny Sunday without traveling too far.

Wolfsputten Walk

Wolfsputten is a nature reserve in Dilbeek, just outside Brussels. One might think it refers to wolves, but, to your disappointment, that is not the case. It rather refers to the hilly landscape, with its many hollows and varying levels.

Hiking takes us through woods, forests, meadows, along streams or orchards and leads us along the small paths between the gardens of Dilbeek. The places are rich in fauna and flora, a total immersion in nature.

The Suspended Observatory of Wolsputten

The flagship attraction is the suspended observatory which offers a magnificent view over the Wolfsputten nature reserve.

Our tips for hiking the Wolfsputten

This hike departing from the Westrand cultural center exists in short (4 kilometers) and long (8 kilometers) formats. We completed the 8-kilometer hike which traverses the nature reserve and shows us some districts of Dilbeek. The 4-kilometer hike only goes around the nature reserve. Both pass through the suspended observatory of Wolfsputten.

The 8-kilometer route is marked with white and red hexagons and the name of the walk inside.

We advise you to wear good shoes, because even in dry weather there are some passages that can be muddy in the woods.
